`Dear God'

April 1st, 2013

State Sen. Clayton Hee gave the moment of contemplation on Monday to open the Senate floor session, thanking God for the separation of church and state.

Hee quickly added an "April Fools."

Senate Minority Leader Sam Slom, who has called for a return to prayer in the Senate -- and who has had his differences with Hee over the years -- could not let the joke go without comment.

Before session ended, Slom thanked God for all of his blessings, "including your ability to suffer fools."
