The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee confirmed on Monday that it is backing U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz's campaign next year.
"We are supporting Sen. Schatz," a DSCC official said, speaking on background.
The Washington Post's Post Politics blog reported Friday that the DSCC had not said whether it would back Schatz in a hypothetical primary against U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, although U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., the DSCC chairman, and U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, have financially supported Schatz's campaign.
The Star-Advertiser had reported earlier this month that the DSCC would be supporting Schatz.
Schatz, meanwhile, has picked up endorsements from the Council for a Livable World, Ocean Champions, and the National Weather Service Employees Organization.
