Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, a former aide to the late U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye, will host a birthday celebration for Inouye on Saturday at the Honolulu Civic Center.

Inouye, who died last December, would have turned 89 on Saturday.

The senator's widow, Irene Hirano Inouye, and his former chief of staff, Jennifer Goto Sabas, are scheduled to speak at the celebration.

The free event, which also includes the dedication of a kukui nut tree and plaque in Inouye's honor, starts at 4 p.m.

    Happy Birthday, Senator Inouye!

  2. Goober:

His next birthday, Senator Inouyes gift
will be the bill for rail. Even in death, bills
need to be paid. Left us with minus the bacon.

Being respectful now. Happy Birthday Senator Inouye.
May rail last as long as your life did.
