The state House has released guidance for people wishing to testify on Thursday at the hearing on a gay marriage bill before the House Judiciary Committee and the House Finance Committee.
The hearing will be held starting at 10 a.m. in the state Capitol auditorium. Lawmakers expect to hear testimony until midnight.
From the House:
This is a system to facilitate the testimony process. Walk-ins will still be allowed to testify by registering at the information booth. Walk-ins will have the opportunity to testify after those who have registered online.
The necessary steps to register online would be to:
1. Register on the Capitol website. (www.capitol.hawaii.gov)
2. Submit testimony through the website system.
a. Check the box indicating desire to testify in person at the hearing.
b. A receipt email will be emailed at the time of submission.
3. A followup email with a registration number will be emailed to those who registered to testify sometime prior to the hearing.
4. Bring the number to the hearing, numbers will be called in batches to testify.
Those who submit their testimony in person should go to the House Chief Clerk’s Office (Room 027) where they will be assigned a number at that time.
