GM 585

April 27th, 2014

State Rep. Jessica Wooley on Sunday sent an email to state senators offering to meet with them on her potentially troubled nomination as director of the state Office of Environmental Quality Control.

Wooley wrote that she had sent a similar email on April 4, but only three senators -- Sen. Suzanne Chun Oakland; Sen. Les Ihara; and Sen. Russell Ruderman -- responded and agreed to meet with her.

Wooley's Senate confirmation vote is scheduled for Tuesday.

From Wooley:

I understand there may be questions about my qualifications and fitness to serve as the Director of the OEQC. If that is true, I am available to meet should you have the time and inclination.

Environmental activists from groups such as the Sierra Club Hawaii and Babes Against Biotech are mobilizing on Wooley's behalf.

Wasn't that what the confirmation hearing was for, talking to the Senators and saying how qualified she was? Why didn't she resign as soon as she was nominated in order to permit a new representative to look after the interests of the voters of her district? By remaining in her legislative post, clear conflicts of interest arise in representing the interests of her constituents and the Governor who was appointing her to a well paid appointed position.

If they don't stick Wooley in that stupid useless appointment, she's just going to run for House again.
