The Hawaii's governor's race is getting some national attention.

Last week, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the chairman of the Republican Governors Association, welcomed former Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona's formal announcement of his Republican campaign.

This week, Democrats formed a new super PAC in the islands.

The chairman of Jobs and Opportunity for Hawaii is Ben Metcalf, the chief operating officer for the Democratic Governors Association.

Gov. Neil Abercrombie is facing state Sen. David Ige in the Democratic primary.

Former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann is running as an independent.
