New name

June 20th, 2014

State House Minority Floor Leader Beth Fukumoto has added her married name to her official name and will go by Rep. Beth Fukumoto Chang.

Fukumoto Chang (R, Mililani-Mililani Mauka-Waipio Access) married former state Republican Party Chairman David Chang in July 2012.

Fukumoto Chang was elected to the House in 2012 and is unopposed in the GOP primary this  year, but could face a general election rematch against the woman she replaced, former Rep. Marilyn Lee. Lee is running against Luella Costales in the Democratic primary.

  1. nonpolitic:

I find it interesting that in each election year, politicians seem to change their names, seemingly to garner more favor from different ethnicities. For example, Eloise Tungpalan - Eloise Tungpalan Yamashita; Rida Cabanilla - Rida Cabanilla Arakawa; and now Beth Fukumoto - Beth Fukumoto Chang. I wonder if it actually works . . .

    One name, Shan.
