So how did state Rep. James Tokioka hold two fundraisers yet not raise any money for his re-election campaign?

He didn't.

The Kauai Democrat said Sunday that he would amend his most recent state campaign-finance report to reflect money raised at fundraisers at the Mandalay in March and in Kahala in June. He said he does not fill out his own reports and the person who completed the paperwork was out of town. "I don't know what happened," he explained.

Tokioka is being challenged by Dylan Hooser, the son of Kauai County Councilman Gary Hooser, in the Democratic primary.

Whoa. Talk about marching over fresh, brand-spanking new out-of-the-munitions store ammunition for Tokioka's opponent (Hooser who -- pardon the pun -- has a lifetime poah t'ing card courtesy of Dr. Price's "ah you frahm hea?" comment). A Grease don't know how else you can slice and/or dice, "uh, if Tokioka's unable to keep accurate books on his fundraiser, how he going do that in office?"

So glad for Linda, though, getting her own share of candidates' campaign budgets (we know one great thing happening this campaign season, for sure) at her The Mandalay restaurant. A real diamond-in-the-rough among these other bloviated "celebrity" restaurants. Linda's folks makes great, plentiful, at a fair price food.

Papa Gary has that "poah ting . . ." card, that is. Transferable to son, I guess 😐 .

hmmm Wonder if his treasurer/accountant really was out of town? Should be pretty easy to find out. "Oh what a tangled web we weave..."

Da guy's name is P. Lau. Das one smelly buggah!

  5. Teddy Freddy:

hmmm his treasurer still must be out of town. Something really stinks here. Meanwhile people are voting and Tokioka still has not filed.

  6. KawaiiKutie:

Jimmy Tokioka & Sharon Har use the same person to file their financial reports. How is it that hers was completed but not Jimmy's? Pilau for sure

  7. Teddy Freddy:

Over two weeks now and still he has not filed amended reports. And he tells The Garden Island a different lie than he told DePledge. Now it is a clerical error: “An error occurred in getting the electronic log of checks to my treasurer, of which I take full responsibility,” Tokioka wrote in an email. “My records with the Campaign Spending Commission have been updated and are current.” The only problem is that they have not been updated and are not current. Jimmy is stalling and trying to get through as many days as he can while people are voting without revealing his donors.
