'He reminds me of me'

Lt. Gov. Shan Tsutsui is out with a new television ad in his election campaign.

The 30-second spot features former U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka:

"What I appreciate most is that we share the same values: honesty, integrity, caring for others. He embodies the best of the aloha spirit."

The full ad:

Tsutsui , the former president of the state Senate, ascended to the lieutenant governor's position following the appointment of his predecessor, Brian Schatz, to the U.S. Senate to replace U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye, who died in December 2012.

Among his top challengers in the August Democratic primary is state Sen. Clayton Hee. The Republican primary features New Hope-Metro Pastor Elwin Ahu and entrepreneur Kimo Sutton.

On Shan Tsutsui: He has more aloha than Hee, so he has my vote.

shan appears to have all the virtures of aloha - Abercrombie has none - so guess it is a somewhat balanced ticket. If Ige wins, this would be a win-win situation, instead of a lose-win situation.

Always glad to see we agree on something k808. Had high hopes (read: Hee hopes) for a Hee but Hee should've never run for Lt.G . . . Hee only ended up succeeding in showing holes in his 10 gallon hat. If Hee can channel that, uh, certain spirit for all of the people of Hawaii, he just MIGHT make a great senator down the road (i.e., take Mazie's place which, of course, needs to be replaced). Hee would just need to leave the hat at home.

And anytime you can link yourself with a guy like Akaka — who WOULDN'T kill to have a hairline like his at ANY age — take it.

Take this time to say that certain deleted narratives do NOT remind a Grease of Greaself. Hahah, itoboy, you use good words (i.e., 'escape from exhibit' bwhwahhaha).

Unbelieveably, I find myself in agreement with kamaaina808 and innocent observer. I like Shan and hope he wins - it's time for the next generation to step up. LG does not have a lot of power, but you are a leader nevertheless. We need leaders in Shan's generation in these roles (perhaps this is where innocent observer, k808, and I will part ways).

Grease - you're cool as always. But even if one day you're not as cool as you are this election, you will be more light years more relevant and worth reading than our in-house chimp EI who is purely entertainment. I would respond to him, but the chimp's posts keeps disappearing because he always defies his zookeepers, so it would be a waste of time. He'll just quote me anyway.
