Chief of staff

December 22nd, 2014

Long-time public policy executive Rod Tanonaka has been selected as chief of staff for U.S. Rep.-elect Mark Takai.

Tanonaka has been serving in the same capacity for U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, who Takai will succeed in office, a Takai spokesman said in a news release Monday.

Tanonaka, who will be based in Hawaii, has known Takai since their days together at the University of Hawaii.

Said Takai:

“His career has been focused on serving the public since graduation from UH, and he has deep experience working on federal issues that are critical to the people of Hawaii."

Takai, who defeated Republican Charles Djou in the November election, is scheduled to be sworn into office on Jan. 6 in Washington, D.C.

Can't wait to see Mark on CSPAN, committee hearing, grilling some hack corporate, governmental, or political ne'er-do-well who didn't do something well. Takai's a nice guy, but, to see him grill somebody . . . it is an art form.

Best of luck to Rod. The new Congressman is lucky to have him.

Just wanted to bid a hearty ALOHA to Derrick - best of luck to you & I hope you don't go to Civil Beat.

  4. Ted Baker:

Derrick will be a hard act to follow,so let's pull for BJ, both in terms of keeping this blog alive, timely, and relevant, and for his long-term health, as well.

Happy Holidays to everyone in the Political Radar community. YES, EVERYONE!!!
